Miss Black is excited to begin her 5th year as a Kindergarten teacher at Rose Hill! She is a native of Dresher, Pennsylvania – a suburb of Philadelphia. Miss Black is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood and Early Adolescent Education, as well as minors in Special Education and French. She recently earned a Master’s degree from George Mason University. In her free time, Miss Black enjoys going down the shore, spending time with my family and friends, and running.
This is Ms. Fennell’s 3rd year teaching at Rose Hill and 2nd year teaching kindergarten. She is a graduate of the University of Florida (go Gators!) and George Washington University, where she completed her Master’s degree in education. When she is not at school, Ms. Fennell loves to spend time with her family and friends, watch football, and go shopping. She is so excited for another year at Rose Hill!
Mrs. Garcia Quinones has been a kindergarten Immersion Teacher at Rose Hill ES for 5 years. She is a Boricua born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and has been living in Virginia for 5 years. While in Puerto Rico, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University from Puerto Rico and her Masters Studies at Universidad Interamericana at Ponce Puerto Rico. Mrs. Garcia Quinones has been working in kindergarten for all her years in Fairfax County and also works during weekends providing Spanish lessons. She enjoys her family's company and loves to eat chocolate!
Despite her Maine roots, Mrs. Ruthenberg grew up in Herndon, and graduated from Herndon High School. She received a B.S. from James Madison University in Early Childhood Education, a M.A. in Special Education from the University of San Diego and an ESOL Endorsement from the University of Virginia. Her teaching experience includes working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, special education preschool, and 20 years of teaching kindergarten in FCPS. She is excited to be teaching Kindergarten Immersion this Year at Rose Hill. Mrs. Ruthenberg lives in Piney Point, Md. with her husband, Tom, her son, Connor and her daughter, Riley. When she isn’t in the classroom (or her car commuting) she is usually supporting a marching band or youth group event. She enjoys hiking, and kayaking in her free time.
Ms. Smith grew up Vienna, VA and went to school in Fairfax County Public Schools. She went to undergrad at Radford University and received a Bachelor of Studies in Early Childhood & Family Life in 1991. She continued her education and received a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education in 2000 from George Mason University. Prior to working at Rose Hill Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Smith worked most of her teaching career as a special educator. She enjoys animals, crafts, walking her dog, and socializing with close friends.
Mrs. Baig has been an instructional assistant for 11 years at Rose Hill Elementary. This will be her 12th year at this amazing school. She really enjoys working with the kiddos because they make her laugh and tell her interesting stories. In her free time she likes to cook and exercise. She also likes to spend time with her family.
Mrs. Demaree is a Kindergarten Assistant at Rose Hill Elementary. She has worked in the Fairfax County School system for five years. Fortunately, she's had the pleasure of working at Rose Hill for four years as a Kindergarten Assistant, as well as a Special Education Instructional Assistant. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. Mrs. Demaree's passion has been to work with children to help foster a nurturing, communicative environment that will instill confidence, independence and an eagerness to learn. It thrills her to see the progression that students make during the school year. Rest assured, that she'll work collaboratively with the teachers to make learning fun yet productive. They’ll learn respect, manners and how to work together in a positive setting. Family is of utmost importance and she has a wonderful husband as well as two amazing children. She is blessed with two beautiful granddaughters whom she loves dearly. Sunsets, beaches, boating, bicycling and walking her sweet dog Nellie are some activities she enjoys.
Mrs. Motta is originally from Lima, Peru and moved to Virginia 15 years ago. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Sacred Heart University in Peru. Her previous work experience in Peru was assessing children in elementary school and assisting at a school’s counseling department. She has also worked for Arlington County and Fairfax County Schools for 10 years. Mrs. Motta is married and has a wonderful 12 year old, Gabriel. She likes to go to his soccer and basketball games. In addition, she enjoys traveling, going to the beaches, and watching movies.
Mrs Weatherwax was born and raised in Utah. She married a military man and before being stationed here had the.great opportunity of living in Japan. Her great passion is children and loves being able to work with them. Mrs. Weatherwax loves learning and knows not only are we teaching children, they are also teaching us. Our future is our children!
