Mrs. Amenyah grew up, completed tertiary education, and began her career in Ghana, West Africa. She has also lived in Tanzania and Nigeria, and recently graduated from George Mason University with a graduate degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Her teaching philosophy is that every child is unique and special. Given the necessary love, guidance and attention, every child has the potential to overcome their disabilities. She has been married to her husband for 23 years and has 2 sons in middle and high school respectively. She is a soccer mom because her boys love soccer and are in travel teams so almost every weeknight is spent for soccer practices and weekends are spent playing soccer games. Mrs. Amenyah’s hobbies are cooking, baking and cake decorations among others.
Mrs. Giugale has been a Special Ed Preschool Teacher at Rose Hill Elementary for the past 14 years. Before she joined Rose Hill, she had taught in Elementary and Preschools in four different continents. She has a Master’s degree in Special Education (Learning Disabilities and Emotional Disturbances) from K to 12, with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education, from George Mason University. Her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education is from Argentina’s Instituto Superior de Formacion Docente. And, during her years in London, England, she completed a “Diploma in Urban and Community Studies", with a specialization in Race, Minorities, and Education.
Ms. Laura is originally from Poughkeepsie, NY. She got her undergraduate degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Rochester and her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the George Washington University. Ms Laura is married to her high school sweetheart, Luke, and has two boys who attend Rose Hill, Sean (9) and Zachary (5). In addition to teaching, Ms. Laura loves to cook and bake, as well as taste the results!
Mrs. Puckett was born and raised in Springfield, Va. She graduated from Hayfield Secondary School and attended George Mason University where she received a BS in Psychology and a master’s degree in early childhood special education. She is going into her 7th year as a teacher in the Preschool Autism Program. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching her son Jared swim and play baseball.
Mrs. Schimmel is originally from NJ, Harrisonburg, VA and has lived in Northern VA for about 30 years. She has about 29 years of teaching experience including 27 years at Rose Hill. She got her undergraduate degree from James Madison University and George Mason University for graduate school. She enjoys spending time with her 2 sons Brandon and Jeremy. She enjoys to walk, cook, and decorate.
Mr. Windhausen, a native of Syracuse, NY, has been working in early childhood education for over twenty years. He earned an undergraduate degree in Communications from George Mason University where he is currently finishing his graduate degree in early childhood special education. He is honored to help support an orphanage and preschool in rural Zambia, Africa and has had the privilege to travel there and work with the children several times. In his spare time Mr. Windhausen enjoys motorcycling, reading, writing, playing guitar and spending time with his two wonderful daughters.
Ms. Santos is originally from El Salvador. She graduated from Bryant Alternative High School and went to Northern Virginia Community College to get her Associates Degree in General Studies. After being a substitute, she became an Instructional Assistant. This will be her second year working at Rose Hill. The Preschool Autism Class (PAC) is a wonderful team of very warm and professional people. She is very proud to be a member of it. In her free time, she loves to play soccer with her boys Christopher and Brian.
Ms. Rauf received her masters in science. She has 10 years of teaching experience in different grade levels. Teaching is her passion. Ms. Rauf loves cooking and shopping.
Zurie Roane is an instructional assistant in one of our Preschool Autism Classrooms. She graduated from George Mason University with a BA in Sociology. Zurie is still working on a Masters in Special Education, however right now her family at home is her focus. She has a husband, Quinton, and one and a half year old son, Izayah. Zurie plans to finish up her masters and continue her career as an educator in the future.
Mrs. Siddique has worked at Rose Hill for the past 8 years. She earned her master's degree in political science and earned her bachelor's degree in education. Mrs. Siddique loves teaching because she believes that teachers can change everything. She loves to travel and make crafts. She fully enjoys life with her husband and 4-year-old son.
Mrs. Skutnik is a preschool instructional assistant. She has lived in Northern Virginia since 1978. This will be her 30th year in FCPS and is looking forward to the fantastic year ahead!
