Two-Way Spanish Immersion

Students at Rose Hill Elementary School can apply to be part of the Spanish Immersion program, where they learn math and science exclusively in Spanish. In this FCPS Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, students spend half of their day learning math, science and health in Spanish. The other half of the day, students are learning in English focusing on English language arts and social studies. See Rose Hill’s Spanish Immersion program featured on Telemundo.

Rose Hill Elementary is now a full-time provider of the FCPS Advanced Academic Program (AAP). The program started in 2024-25 for our third grade students, and will scale-up every year after so that by the 2027-28 school year, grades 3-6 will be offering Level IV AAP services. Find out more about our AAP expansion.

The Rose Hill PlayersThe cast of a Rose Hill players production

The Rose Hill Players is a tradition spanning more than 34 years! It provides our students with the opportunity to audition and perform in theatrical productions. It is supported by the PTA and led by a group of our teachers and many parent volunteers. It's truly a wonderful and long-standing tradition that provides great memories for our students.

Walk in My Shoes Inclusion Program

Each year our students participate in the Walk in My Shoes inclusion event, designed to give general-education students a broader understanding of the daily situations faced by some of their friends with developmental challenges and learning differences. The program fosters empathy for others and gets students thinking about how they might be able to help a friend.

A Supportive Community That Soars Together

Rose Hill boasts a strong and supportive community where families, teachers, and staff work together to create a positive learning environment. Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in supporting school programs and activities. The PTA sponsors a variety of events, including a Fun Run, a Penny War fundraiser, a Trunk-or-Treat, and Staff Appreciation Week. We also benefit from strong community partnerships with local organizations and businesses.

Stellar SquadsStudents participating in Stellar Squad activities

Stellar Squads are classrooms that are partnered together, usually an upper grade with a lower grade, and for about an hour, they have an opportunity to connect. The goal is for the older students to see how important their role is as an older Rocket and to model the Rose Hill expectations, feel good about helping younger Rockets, and develop strong relationships. The same squads are partnered throughout the year and get together once a month.
