SIXTH GRADE CURRICULUM
Mrs. Amaya is a New York City native. She grew up close to Yankee Stadium and spent many summer nights watching them play. As a young adult, she worked with at-risk youth teaching them how to swim. This experience inspired her to become a teacher. Mrs. Amaya obtained her bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Marymount University. This will be her 9th year as a Rose Hill Rocket. On her time off you can find Mrs. Amaya at home chasing after her two small children.
Mrs. Samuels was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She hasn't always been a teacher. After graduating from college, she worked for an insurance company until she decided she wanted to educate our future leaders and become a teacher. Her first teaching job was here at Rose Hill Elementary School in 2007 and has been a Rocket ever since. She has taught all of the even grades: 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
One of the most important things to her is family. Without their support, she couldn’t have become the teacher that she is today.
Ms. White is a Fairfax County native. She was an FCPS student and went on to graduate from James Madison University with her Masters in Elementary Education. Ms. White is going into her 4th year of teaching and will be teaching 6th grade. Aside from teaching, she has a passion for music. She sang in an acapella group during her college years and now enjoys singing with friends in DC in a vocal group called Atlas.
