Language Arts

  • Readers and writers reflect on their habits and needs and plan ways to increase their productivity and engagement.
  • Readers and writers engage in conversations to understand other perspectives and shape their ideas.
  • Readers are flexible in their thinking, using discussion to uncover layers of meaning.

Math

  • Read, write, and identify the place and value of each digit in a nine-digit whole number.
  • Compare and order whole numbers expressed through millions.
  • Estimate and determine sums, differences, and products of whole numbers.
  • Create and solve single-step and multistep addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems with whole numbers.
  • Identify, describe, create, and extend patterns found in objects, pictures, numbers, and tables.
  • Recognize the meaning of equality in an equation. 

Social Studies

  • Demonstrate responsible citizenship, both on and offline, and construct an understanding of the Student Rights and Responsbilities (including Digital Citizenship) by showing respect for rules and laws while collaborating, compromising, and participating in classroom activities
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Virginia in the establishment of the new American nation

  • Demonstrate an understanding of scientific and engineering practices.
  • Investigate and understand that organisms, including humans, interact with one another and with the nonliving components in the ecosystem.
