I've spent most of my life in FCPS, both as a student (Bush Hill ES and Mark Twain MS) and educator. For the past 15 years I've taught 1st-3rd grades in both DC and FCPS in addition to being a math teacher at the middle and high school level. I received my degree in sociology from Virginia Tech as well as my master's in secondary education from Grand Canyon University. When I'm not spending time with my wife and daughter, I love making music and rooting for the Cubs, Pacers, and Colts!
All students in grades K-5 have access to mobile laptop labs designated to each grade level and 2 mobile iPad lab for regular curricular enhancement or project based learning. Students learn computer skills ranging from using the mouse and becoming familiar with the keyboard to incorporating multimedia into projects. Students in grades 6 have 1-1 laptops meaning each student is assigned their own laptop to use for the year. Each classroom is equiped with a SMART Board, projector, student computers, and sometimes peripherals like document cameras. In addition, our staff utilizes technology resources such as streaming video, 24/7 Learning, Google Apps for Education, and student response systems and technology related units to enhance students' learning.
