Mrs. Amaya is a New York City native. She grew up close to Yankee Stadium and spent many summer nights watching them play.  As a young adult, she worked with at-risk youth teaching them how to swim.  This experience inspired her to become a teacher.  Mrs. Amaya obtained her bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Marymount University. This will be her 9^th year as a Rose Hill Rocket. On her time off you can find Mrs. Amaya at home chasing after her two small children.
