End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Language Arts:  

  • The failure rate of Gap group 1 will be reduced by at least 10% as measured by the 2019 unadjusted SOL results.  

  • The percentage of students passing the Reading SOL in Grades 3-6 will increase from 68% to 75%.

  • Students in K-2 will make at least one year worth of growth from their fall reading level as determined by school selected reading assessment.

Language Arts Actions:  

  • Teachers will use student work, embedding asset, non-judgmental language, to identify specific student goals, and to structure effective and engaging small group instruction.

 

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Mathematics:

  • The failure rate of Gap group 1 will be reduced by at least 10% as measured by the 2019 unadjusted SOL results.  

  • The percentage of students passing the Math SOL in Grades 3-6 will increase from 71% to 75%.

  • The percentage of 1st and 2nd graders passing the Spring benchmark assessment will increase to 85% passing rate.  The percentage of Kindergarten students passing the EOY grade level assessment will be 80%.

  • Teachers will use student work, embedding asset, non-judgmental language, to identify specific student goals, and to structure a targeted instructional approach.

 

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Science:  

  • The failure rate of Gap group 1 will be reduced by at least 10% as measured by the 2019 unadjusted SOL results.  

  • The percentage of students passing the Science SOL in Grade 5 will increase from 70% to 75%.

Science Actions:  

  • 5th-grade teachers will plan with support from the region at least once a quarter and will teach content incorporating differentiated strategies to support all learners.

  • Teachers will collaboratively plan lessons, including anticipatory approaches and misconceptions, to increase the quality of talk moves, discourse, and questioning between teachers and students, and among students.

 

Strategies

Strengthen Tier 1 instruction through equitable practices to increase student engagement and optimize time spent on instruction:

  • Teachers will continue to participate in differentiated PD once a month during CTs to support the SIIP. (LA and Math)

  • Teams will emphasize the use of the data wall and other assessments as tools to inform instruction and interventions.

  • Teachers will collaboratively plan lessons, including anticipatory approaches and misconceptions, to increase the quality of talk moves, discourse, and questioning between teachers and students, and among students. (LA and Math)

The school will focus on relationship building among staff, students, and the community to foster a safe and positive environment:

  • Teachers will participate in PBA training and implement crisis cycle management strategies to approach behavior challenges.

  • Teachers will engage in strategy workshops to expand their toolbox for classroom and behavior management.

  • Teachers will contact parents on a regular basis to share positive input about students in order to build partnerships with families.
